Not sure what to do with my main

I appear to be at a crossroads and would like to reach out to those with more experience for guidance .
So my main is up to level 77 ( he's a guard , if that matters). I don't have GR or ROR, I have been doing some of the book quests , but I kinda feel like if I don't have the deeds and other quests I'm not getting the most out of it. I do take some time out to level up some alts, I have an RK who is very close to getting an LI , and another is one I only play when my wife is also playing, but I digress. As far as my Guard is concerned should I just keep following the book quests , and supplement with skirms when the quests outlevel me ( which has already happened once) or should I go back and complete deeds in other areas and get my virtues and rep taken care of for those areas and wait until I am financially in a place to get ror and / or GR . Any other options that I haven't thought up yet would also be appreciated.
