Yes I know, I know, I sometimes chirp up in the usual threads about the lack of (insert R word), but this thread isn't about that, so please don't mention it in here :) This is more about what I like, not what I don't like.
There are many things I don't like about LOTRO , as I am sure is the same for a lot of people, however, after participating in the forums more over the last month or two, I felt a need to stand up and say . . . . categorically . . . . without question - for me . . . .
There are a lot more things that I love about it.
I've come to the conclusion that I would much rather have the LOTRO that I have, than no LOTRO at all, and despite the little things that bug me, I am still playing.
I am a great believer in the cup is half full :)
I hate that Mirkwood Landing bugged out on my main (hunter), and that she couldn't ever see completion coming because of it, BUT I am still playing, and I love that I now have a second main (minstrel), who is now overtaking my main main - and yes, She got Mirkwood Landing bug free. I love that she is running riots around Middle earth doing all the deeds that my main did, and they are still, just as much fun (although I'm not much looking forward to Smaug t2 again lol). I love how I have found that my main, is no longer my absolute favorite class, but my second main ties with her in that area.
I love how I know exactly what sounds my lil minstrel hobbit will make during a skills rotation, without even thinking about it - kind of like knowing the words of a movie (sad I know, but true) :)
I love Eriador, and Moria, and most content since, particularly Great River. I love meeting the Eagles, and rescuing one of them from the fate of the spiders. I love how they bough their heads in thanks and wish me their best before I leave them. I love the Argonath. I will never forget completing Roots of Fangorn challenge for the first time on level and thinking Wow, did I just do that?
I find the fangorn grind tedious, but I enjoyed Hytbold (ducks), and am enjoying it even more the second time around. I also enjoyed Wildermore.
I am not fond of the Rift at all, however I loved the feeling I got when my RK completed it on level.
I don't like BB''s, but, the way I see it, I have enough traditional content that is awesome to keep 15 toons busy for a very very long time. If I do it on level, its even better :)
HD presented a whole new play for me. I remember walking up to the first - what seemed impossibly overpowered elite mob compared to previous ones - and thinking Holy Cow, did they make a mistake, how am I supposed to go up against that? And then discovering, with a little bit of alteration of rotations, I could do it. It brought in a new play style for me, and that . . . . I love.
Can you see how this is going, for each negative I can find in the game, I always seem to find a positive to counteract it. And many more besides.
Bottom line for me is simple. There is far more I love about the game, than I dislike . . . . and I am still playing. But more to the point, I am still enjoying every minute of it, and can't wait to start the journey to Gondor.
People can have whatever opinions they like, but Turbine if nothing else, are incredibly creative, and there is always plenty that they come up with that impresses me, so I wait in anticipation for whatever they will bring to the table.
What do you like about the current game? (please, not what you don't like - at least not without a positive) And what are you looking forward to?
