Bug reports have been filed, but does anyone else have this happening?
Here's what seems to happen:
- I play a little past midnight server time every day (Imladris). Sometimes 1am, sometimes 2am.
- I go to Frithnoth in Hytbold, or to Quickbeam in Entwood, and get a resource quest. There is no indication at all that the quest in not ready.
- MANY times, when I get into the instance, either the mobs or the resource nodes have not spawned. Not at all.
- Entwood, Gemyndsted, where I go for scholar mats, there will be no resource nodes. All the mobs and weathered parchments are there, so I can complete all quest objectives, but get no resources.
- Hytbold, Iserngraf, I go for the Compendium IV, there are no mobs AT ALL. I can't complete the 2 quests that depend on mobs, only the uncommon ore quest.
- Leaving and re-entering the instances does not help. If I cancel the Iserngraf quest, and wait the 12h cooldown for "failure", it will work.
- I am not sure about Gemyndsted, I have always just completed it in anger that it is broken and that I get no resources, yet again.
Here's what I suspect is happening:
- Quest availability at the NPC is reset at midnight server time, so the quest becomes available "the next day" from last time.
- Inside the quest, items or mobs are mistakenly on a full 24h cooldown, instead of the same midnight reset the quest uses. Mobs in Iserngraf, nodes in Gemyndsted.
- There is no indication AT ALL when you get the quest, that it is not actually fully reset / cooled-down. But if it's less than a full 24h since last time, things will be missing.
The one player I talked to about this lately, said he has the same problems, so he only bothers to go every second day. He says resource quests in Moria are also affected, and he seems like an accurate observer.
Preemptive complaint:
- Don't dare tell me this is working to spec. The quest is available to be granted, but there is ZERO indication that it is NOT actually ready / playable.
- I call that a bug by any definition from the player's perspective, even if there is some fussy design reason for why different timers/cooldowns were used.
- In any case, all I want is to do these quests once each day, as they are designed to operate, just like so many other things in the game.
