I am an older player with a busy work and family life. I normally play single player games to relax. I was afraid to play MMOs because I heard they were fast moving and aggressive with emphasis on PvP. My friends urged me to try Rift and SW:TOR because they had quests and a story but though they were fun and colorful games I just did not enjoy them. I found LOTRO on steam and it is a GREAT game! The quests are unusual and creative, the crafting is amazing and you have the best riding animation I have ever seen. So far I have slain goblins and assorted creatures, solved riddles, became a chicken (!), got drunk and I am sure that this is the only game that actually allows smoking! I enjoy the books and I love being able to travel to those places. I started with 2 characters but that quickly grew to 7 and now I plan to make more. I cant wait till the new class comes out. Riding around the Shire or thundering into Bree on horseback never gets old and it is the best thing to do after a hard day at work. I am currently FTP because I dont have much free time to play and I am lucky to play 25 hours a month. However, I am enjoying this game so much that I am trying to free up some time so I can go VIP if only for a little while. The game is certainly worth it. During the winter the forum and in game chat got a little toxic and I almost quit the game. I am so glad that I did not. The people who play the game are terrific and everyone is always so polite and helpful. So I just want to say Thank you Turbine for a great game. Thanks to everyone in the LOTRO community. Without your help and guides I would be totally lost. May LOTRO continue for many years!
P.S. It may be just me but I am feeling a little sorry for the chickens in this game. :) When does the chicken hockey start?
