I will start out by saying that I have been playing this game for four years now and have seen quite a few changes come and go. And having now experienced and played the "new Lotro" for a couple of days now, I'll voice some thoughts.
1) Ya know people (and by people I do mean Turbine) some means of explanation, direction or manual on how things now work in the new Middle Earth gaming system might have been nice! But no, no hints, no clue, no direction whatsoever as to what does what, how you do what you do with this that and the other thing, bubkus, nada, zipsquat. I guess then I'm supposed to be a mind reader in figuring these things out. I'll say this much, after Turbine made the last changes, namely the Minstrel class, someone decided to go artsy fartsy and reduced me to a true button masher with my mini's. Congratulations! Now I've become a button masher with all of my toons for the lack of instruction because I'm left to guess as to what I'm doing with every toon I have.
2) It has become wildly and quickly apparent that there will never ever be enough points to distribute across the trees. Not even by doing every quest and deed there is to be done. And this brings me to my next problem.
3) I now find I have deeds of which will very likely not get done. Why? Because the skill deeds are now attached to the third tree. So if I want to get these deeds done I'll be forced to purchase the third tree. Nice! I have to give two thumbs up to this particular bit of corporate money making schemes and greed! I have 50 toons or so across four different servers. Bearing that in mind and the fact that I'm likely to want the third tree on nearly all of my toons I sat down and did the math. In order to have enough tp to purchase enough mithril coins to get the third tree, I'D HAVE TO SPEND NEARLY A THOUSAND DOLLARS! Got to hand it to someone, nice way to generate cash.
4) I'm given to understand that all these changes were an effort to rein in the end gamers who were all way over the top OP as they say. Hmm, yeah, this is going to work. NOT! Especially considering I've seen more than one end gamer who has said that they're by passing the quests and doing nothing but farming in order to get to 95 as quickly as possible to get as powerful as possible with the best possible armour and goodies.
5) Lastly these bloody changes should have been released in increments not done all at once! Geez I dunno, by doing it in increments it would have given people a change to get used to the changes a bit at a time, not dumping everyone in the pool without so much as a liferaft and no hints as to what's what! All in all, as I said, I've been playing this game for 4 years and happily been a vip the entire time. But recently someone or some bunch of someones decided to change my game and have replaced with it a game that looks rather like Lotro but is in fact an entirely brand new game, a clone and a poor one of the game I love playing. And after all is said and done, I'm not sure I'll be sticking around to pay for a 5th year of game play because I'm not sure I want to pay for vip status for a game that I don't love playing anymore.
