Hi Im an avid fan of the Lord of the Rings universe and am a long time player of lord of the rings online. I know you founded Turbine Inc and came out of Brown University.
There are graphics issues with the game that no one seems to be able to resolve, not your support team, not Radeon, no one. Hence why im contacting you for an explanation, if you have one.
Yet why is it that with two seperate Radeon 5000+ models I see bizarre graphics glitches. On both the Radeon cards there was an unusual graphics problem.
First on the Radeon 5700 there was problems with the Spider mobs. All the rendering of it would go absolutely crazy.
On my 5800 there are moments where the whole game, not my desktop, not anything in windows, produces a bizarre plaid like grid pattern that is only there for a split second.
Despite reporting these issues some glitch comes up with radeon graphics GPUs of one kind or another. Is this because Radeon refuses to fix something? Have you guys made a deal with Nvidia to make sure the game doesn't run optimally on anything but Nvidia?
It has vexed for years as to why your company refuses to fix radeon issues that are not present in any other game ive ever run. It appears to me that these problems are unique to your companies game design for whatever strange reason that might be.
Another fun thing about your game is how there seems to be many elements that simply seem to be there only to grief players. In enedwaith for example the only way to a mountain dwarf fortress is to pass over a log??? If they are dwarves where is the stone bridge...even a broken one, but no, I noticed similiar bridge problem in Llothlorien that seems to do much the same thing. Its broken. Why would the elves there not fix a broken bridge. Elven cities are so absurdley decentralized that you can't find anything without great amounts of unneccessary effort. Or theres the log bridge in rivendell, with NO rails so that I can easily fall to my doom and have to some how get out of the river. Why would the all wise elrond do that. Right..he WOULDN'T
Or recently the epic Vol 3 where level maps seemed designed to trap you there and make it nigh impossible to figure out how to get out. That might be fine in the real world but in a game, but when i dont have the time to spend endless hours just getting out of a area I dont want to get trapped in dead end after dead end in a endless moebius strip style trap seemingly intended again to grief whatever players enter the zone. And these instances respawn guys. Its an instance, whats the need to regen mobs????
And the hobbit gifts, they mostly are lousy.
So I hope this can spur you to make the area maps make more sense and be less intended to grief the players that subscribe and make for a better game, which hopefully as the founder of turbine, you have some influence over.
Sincerely,
H
