Instances, soldiers, xp, etc - Newer player perspective

Hey,

For some reason or another I never got into LOTRO when it came out. So after GuildWars 2 and the fiasco that was Darkfall Unholy Wars, I decided to give it a shot. Was fun, got to around 50 and then stopped. I'm back playing again and I have a 55 warden on Brandywine.

I'm just curious why there isn't an option to use soldier(s) in instances? I really wanted to do Urugath and Carn to see everything (not going to mention all the other instances I had to skip while I was leveling up). I tried using the instance finder (heck I can't even use that to get a skirm group) to no avail. I ended up going to Urugath solo, then found some 85s running it for virtue stuff and tagged along for the ride. It really is a buzz kill that I can't utilize NPC soldiers/companions to get me through. I'm not saying I want it to be easy mode, but it simply isn't possible to solo the content and experience it. Heck, if farming would be an issue - make a 48 hour lockout for using soldiers/npcs to help get you through an instance ??

Before I get attacked for the obvious point that these areas were made for 3-12 people - the fact is that the majority of the server seems to be 85 or people with a 85 dual box to help. I just want to be able to play some of these areas and get at least some experience or items while they are relevant? It's not as fun rolling through greys later on...

Which leads me to another point, which is that by the time I got to 50 - volume I is pretty much grayed out and the only point would be just for my own gratification of finishing the book. So I went to Moria at 54 and I feel that by the time I get halfway through volume II I will be in the same boat? I don't just want to fruit boot my way to 85 and then come back later. I'd rather take longer to level and have some challenge than to get burnt out on content 30 levels below.

So what would make me happy and probably a lot of people that are playing through the content for the first time:

- ability to have 2 soldiers for use in instance / skirmish play. Have lockouts or xp/loot penalties ?
- have the ability to scale down your level to that of the area you are in. Would give xp but at an equitable rate for your level at that content point
- some sort of alternate xp sink that would build characters as they go back through content (other than just the virtue stuff that seems tedious)
- scale mob levels to the average level of group that is fighting them ?

Some of these things are already in other games EQ2, GW2 etc etc. When you promote solo play to such a degree and then have that much content that is unavailable to be done it really is a buzz kill. Perhaps this is something that has already been beaten to death, but its something that is irking me.
